How peer coaching differs from addiction treatment

Meet Jake
Jake is the lead peer coach in Fargo-Moorhead. He has a background in the medical field and is passionate about balanced recovery approaches.

Q: Is Face It TOGETHER treatment?

A: No – we provide effective peer-based support for people directly impacted by addiction, including loved ones. Our support is less formal than a professional counselor, but more structured than a typical 12-step sponsor.

Face It TOGETHER coaches aren’t licensed counselors, though they do go through extensive training to become certified. We have a shared lived experience with our members, so we understand what you’re going through.

We also offer remote coaching by phone or secure video to support members at any stage of wellness, and we also can stay connected by text or email.

Although we don’t offer treatment, we acknowledge there are many different pathways to wellness. Our coaches can go through your options to see what’s best for you.

Clinical treatment, and sometimes medically-managed detox, is needed when someone’s addiction is severe. But many people do well with less intensive support, such as one-on-one counseling or peer coaching.

If you’re mandated by court, you may have to complete a chemical dependency evaluation before a treatment recommendation is made. These recommendations may include a DUI seminar, inpatient treatment or outpatient treatment. Our coaches can help you navigate these different options in your area.

We can help you find community resources if you need them, including housing, transportation, support groups and more. We can also help with more practical skills like applying for jobs and writing a resume if needed.

Ultimately, we’re here to help members get the resources and support they need. Our goal is to provide you with confidence, guidance and options as you move forward in your wellness journey.
