The Chairman and CEO of GE Johnson Holdings, Inc., Jim Johnson has more than 30 years of experience in the construction industry and a passion for giving back to the community.
Jim has played an active role in every division of GE Johnson Construction Company since he started as a laborer in 1976. Eventually, he served as Vice President before becoming President and CEO in 1997. Responsible for leading the strategic vision, culture and Board of Directors of GE Johnson, Jim’s passion for community service and client satisfaction drives him as he continues to lead the company in its next 50 years of operation.
Jim led the formation of the GE Johnson Construction Company Foundation to focus on workforce development, the arts and youth. His experience with numerous nonprofit organizations and his generosity have been recognized with accolades including: Business Citizen of the Year by the Colorado Springs Regional Business Alliance; Kansas State University’s College of Engineering Hall of Fame; the Colorado Business Hall of Fame; and the Colorado Governor’s Citizenship Medal. His philanthropic spirit for improving health and human services and cultural efforts greatly impact the Front Range of Colorado and beyond.
Jim currently serves on several boards for a variety of organizations, including the Common Sense Policy Roundtable, Face It TOGETHER (Chair), Catholic Health Initiative Foundation (CHI-F) and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Foundation. He has also served on the Colorado Community College System State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education, Kansas State University’s Board of Trustees and Colorado Springs’ Downtown Partnership, to name a few.
Jim and his wife, Laura, have four adult children. They live in Colorado Springs, but also enjoy spending time at their ranch outside of Westcliffe, CO or Vail.
