Jackie Barr (she/her)

Operational Support Specialist

Jackie is passionate about the power of the peer. Her story is proof that we can move from shame and self-doubt into hope and love.

Jackie Barr is a certified peer support specialist and volunteers with Midwest Street Medicine. She has her bachelor’s degree in addiction counseling and prevention. As Face It TOGETHER’s Operational Support Specialist, Jackie shares her heart and talents wherever the team needs them most. She meets a range of behind-the-scenes needs, from data cleanup and documentation to administrative support.

Jackie has been on her wellness journey for many years. She has struggled with mental health, including ADHD, bipolar disorder, depression and anxiety since she was a teenager. She used a number of different drugs and behaviors to try and cope before recovery. Jackie is a self-harm and suicide attempt survivor, and she’s a firm believer in the power of the peer. Giving back and sharing her lived experience with others is important to her. She loves watching others begin to feel more capable and empowered. Nothing excites her more than watching someone feel good about themselves or say, “I can do this” for the first time.

Jackie lives in Sioux Falls, SD and loves the community she’s built with her friends and family. In her free time, she writes poetry, cross stitches and listens to records.
