Coach type: Person with addiction and loved one coach (volunteer)
Coaching since: 2016
I've been in recovery from alcohol addiction for 38 years, and free from being affected by my loved one’s addiction for 36 years. I went to treatment when I was 50 years old. For nearly 25 years I hid my drinking and tried to control it.
I’ve been a peer coach at Face It TOGETHER for almost two years. My professional career was in retail, this started with a drug store, continued with a clothing and jewelry stores, and I eventually owned and operated a Merle Norman cosmetic studio.
Business and personal finance, twelve-step, seniors, loved one support
I’m very involved in my recovery community and attending meetings. My number one passion has been my singing, I was part of the Sweet Adelines for 25 years and currently I’m singing bass with the First City singers, performing at six nursing homes every month. Taking care of myself is very important to me – I am a daily walker and healthy eater.
