I’m the mother of a 19-year-old son lost to addiction and have experienced first-hand the pain when a child is sick with this disease. I’ve become very familiar with available resources and programs as well as gaps in support that can make getting well challenging. I continue to educate myself about the disease and actively participate in reducing the shame and stigma of addiction by openly talking about it and staying involved.
Through my work experience, I’ve become very familiar with drug issues in the state and the challenges in our fight against the disease. We can’t “cure” addiction by placing people in our correctional centers. We need to continue to work toward different approaches to properly diagnose and address addiction and mental health issues within our communities.
Parenting and addiction, treatment methods, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), dual diagnosis, ADD/ADHD, depression, anxiety, abuse, bullying, self-harm and suicide
In my spare time, I enjoy activities such taking walks, and I’m a huge dog fan. I also enjoy hunting, fishing, camping and boating. I’m passionate about expanding my training and knowledge around addiction so I can help others.
