Our focus is on delivering results. We know that our outcomes depend on the quality of our partnerships.
Our co-founder, Kevin Kirby, was named in 2013 to the influential Ashoka Fellowship, a global initiative advancing social entrepreneurship to solve our world’s most pressing problems. In partnership with its Fellows, Ashoka builds communities of innovators who work collectively to transform society and design new ways for citizen-led solutions to become more productive, entrepreneurial and globally integrated.
Ashoka is the largest network of social entrepreneurs worldwide, with nearly 3,000 Ashoka Fellows in 70 countries putting their system-changing ideas into practice on a global scale. Founded by Bill Drayton in 1980, Ashoka launched the field of social entrepreneurship and has activated multi-sector partners across the world who increasingly look to entrepreneurial talent and new ideas to solve social problems.
We work in partnership with Avera McKennan Hospital and University Health Center on an award-winning community awareness program intended to remove barriers, such as stigma and shame, to getting well from the disease of addiction. In addition, our Sioux Falls Affiliate partners with Avera’s outpatient treatment program to provide recovery coaching and other disease management support.
Avera McKennan Hospital and University Center is a member of Avera Health, a regional health care family of 300 facilities in the five-state region of South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska.
The Bush Foundation has recognized our first Affiliate, Face It TOGETHER Sioux Falls, for its work to fundamentally change the way the disease of addiction is treated and understood. The Affiliate was a finalist for the Bush Prize, which honors organizations with a proven record of creating innovative solutions to community challenges.
The Bush Foundation invests in great ideas and the people who power them. Established in 1953 by 3M executive Archibald Bush and his wife, Edyth, the Foundation encourages individuals and organizations to think bigger and think differently about what is possible in communities across Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and the 23 Native nations that share the same geographic area.
Sanford Health & Sanford Health Plan
We have a multi-component strategic relationship with Sanford Health, including the Sanford Health Plan, focused on improving the health of addiction sufferers while delivering value to the health system. Sanford Health and Face It TOGETHER are working to implement a chronic disease management clinic model for addiction. Sanford Health is integrating a Face It TOGETHER-trained peer support advocate (PSA) into its team based care model in primary care clinics. These PSAs act as coaches to individuals battling addition by providing with them informal, personalized support. The goal is to help Sanford patients suffering from addiction manage their health and wellness. No one else in health care is innovating and pioneering in this way to address the costly and deadly disease of addiction. Eventually, each Sanford Clinic will have access to at least one peer support advocate who will partner with physicians and other providers as well as Face It TOGETHER to guide patients through their recovery process. Sanford Health is also supporting the development of new Face It TOGETHER Affiliates in communities throughout Sanford’s footprint.
Sanford Health, an integrated health system headquartered in the Dakotas, is the largest rural, not-for-profit health care system in the nation, serving 126 communities in 9 states. The system includes 39 hospitals, 225 clinic locations and 1,360 physicians in 81 specialty areas of medicine.
Sioux Empire United Way
Our pilot Affiliate, Face It TOGETHER Sioux Falls, is the first community organization focused on addiction wellness to be selected as a United Way agency. This relationship is a powerful precedent as we assist communities in the establishment and operation of Affiliates.
The Sioux Empire United Way is among the strongest chapters in the US, ranking 2nd in the nation in per capita giving, with contributions from 30,000 individuals and 700 businesses. It is a community impact organization, serving an estimated 1 out of every 3 individuals each year in its community with over 90 different programs.
In 2016, we launched a partnership with Welkin Health, a San Francisco-based digital health company specializing in patient relationship management, to improve the care and management of drug and alcohol addiction. Through the collaboration, we're applying evidence-based digital support tools to recovery coaching with the goal of improving outcomes and reducing costs so that more people suffering from addiction can get well and stay well.
