Sioux Falls Employer Initiative
Alcohol and drug problems cost all of us. It’s why more and more local employers are realizing the benefits of partnering in our Employer Initiative. It gives employers the tools to help their employees while increasing productivity and better managing costs related to the chronic illness of addiction. And it’s helping organizations save families, lives and money.
Snapshot of a local problem
Research shows that in the Sioux Falls area, about 10 percent of those ages 12 and up – close to 20,000 people in the four-county area -- struggle with addiction issues. In addition, just a fraction of those, less than 10 percent, will ever get help.
As the community’s top public health challenge, addiction drives far reaching social, human and economic costs. A study commissioned by Face It TOGETHER found that addiction costs the community at least $117 million each year.
The mission statement for employer partners is:
Believing that addiction is a chronic illness and that companies can be a part of creating a recovery-oriented community in Sioux Falls, our companies join forces to use the winning elements of our wellness programs and services for the employees to open new doors and remove barriers to recovery.
